Is neurofeedback safe?  What’s actually going to happen to my brain?

Neurofeedback is completely safe!  It is non-invasive and drug free.  It does not introduce any kind of electrical energy or shock to your brain.  Some people report experiencing a mild headache during their first few sessions or becoming drowsy as they train.  No other side effects are reported.

During your neuro assessment and training sessions, the sensors will read your brainwave activity, interface that activity with the software in your Evoke app, and provide real-time feedback to your brain that guides it toward balance.  This feedback is given in the form of your screen brightening  and volume becoming louder when your brain is functioning optimally.  When your brain functions sub-optimally, your screen will darken and the volume will decrease.  It’s that simple.  You get to sit back and relax as you watch a video on your phone, or other device.

Think of it as tuning a guitar… neurofeedback is training your brainwaves to “play in tune” with one another which creates a cognitive harmony, of sorts.  Your brain prefers to “play in tune” or be in balance (called homeostasis).  Once it is guided back into balance, it will choose to stay there.  People are frequently able to stop taking their psychotropic,  ADD/ADHD, and certain other medications because of their brain finding and holding this balance.

How much time does neurofeedback training require?

20 minute sessions performed 3-5 times per week.  Some training protocols allow for multiple training sessions per day.  You will spend 3 months engaged in your neurofeedback training plan – generally aiming for 30-40 sessions.  Additional annual touch ups are often recommended.

At-Home neurofeedback training makes it easy to engage in multiple sessions per week, dramatically speeding up your progress!

Can I use my insurance?

Unfortunately, no.  Insurance companies do not yet reimburse neurofeedback/EEG biofeedback.
